Coroplast is inexpensive because its corrugated polypropylene structure uses little material—not because layout, color, flute direction, stakes, frames, and weather can be ignored.
Where coroplast fits

The mistake is asking a temporary panel to behave like a permanent one. Large unsupported coroplast can flutter. Stakes can loosen. Edges crush when handled repeatedly. UV and wind accumulate. When the sign needs to represent a property for years, a more durable material often costs less over its useful life.
Corrugated construction
Flute direction is part of the specification.
The internal channels create stiffness in one direction and permit step-stake wires to slide into the sheet. Rotating the artwork ninety degrees can change which edge accepts the stake and how the panel flexes.
Sheet thickness, flute direction, cut edge, stake spacing, frame opening, wind exposure, and whether the sign is single or double sided should be established before production. A small detail such as a rider slot or arrow orientation may determine the entire sheet layout.

What is coroplast?
Coroplast is a common trade name for corrugated polypropylene sheet. It has two thin faces connected by internal flutes, similar in concept to corrugated cardboard but made from plastic.
How long does a coroplast sign last outdoors?
It is intended for temporary to medium-term use, and actual life depends on sun, wind, color, thickness, flute direction, stakes, frame, print or film, and how often the sign is handled. We do not sell it as a permanent substitute for ACM, aluminum, or MDO.
Can coroplast signs be double sided?
Yes. Graphics can be placed on both faces. When step stakes are used, the flute direction must allow the stake wires to enter correctly.
What are the flutes?
The flutes are the hollow channels running through the sheet. Their direction affects bending stiffness, stake insertion, drainage, cutting, and the way an unsupported panel behaves in wind.
Can coroplast be used in a metal frame?
Yes. H-frames, yard arms, freestanding frames, and custom retainers can support coroplast for temporary property and event use. The opening and attachment need to match the sheet thickness and wind.
Is coroplast recyclable?
Polypropylene recycling availability varies by local facility and contamination. Ink, vinyl, adhesive, dirt, and attached hardware can affect acceptance. Customers should verify local options rather than assume curbside recycling.
Can S2 produce custom shapes?
Yes, within practical limits. Contour-cut shapes need enough material around flutes and attachment points to avoid weak tabs or rapid wind damage.
When should I choose ACM instead?
Choose a more rigid material when the sign is expected to stay longer, span a larger frame, remain very flat, survive frequent handling, or represent a permanent property identity.
