What Are Blade Signs?

A Blade Sign is just a term used for any type of sign that protrudes away from a wall or overhang.

Blade Signs are often used when you want to advertise to traffic that passes parallel to your business. In this case, a blade sign would be ideal. They allow drivers passing your building to identify who you are and what you do!

Blade Signs are generally put at a 90-degree angle to the structure on which they’re located.

For wall mounted signs, they would come away from the building and over the sidewalk area. For a blade sign that is used under a canopy, the sign would be hung under the roof.

Blade Signs can be as basic or as intricate as you’d like! There are no limitations as to what we can make for you at long as it meets the requirements of your local sign code.

Blade Signs are a fantastic way to capture the attention of potential customers! Even when your building isn’t at an optimum viewing angle for passing traffic.

To visualize a blade sign – think of a typical sign for a parking garage in a busy, congested, downtown environment. They stick out from the wall, over the sidewalk, and advertise to both the pedestrians and vehicle traffic. They’re also used extensively in malls and shopping centers to be identify businesses from afar.

What Are Blade Signs Made From?

Blade signs are just a term used for an installation method. The options for what you can make a blade sign out of are endless!

Blade Signs can be a very simple 2-dimensional advertisement with a flat panel with vinyl graphics applied. Alternatively, you could make a massive 3-dimensional structure featuring Channel Letters, LED Lighting, Push-Thru Signs, and/or LED Neon!

The only limitations as to what your new blade sign will look like is your imagination!

How Big Can Blade Signs Be?

As with most signs that are designed to be installed permanently, the size of your sign is often dictated by your local sign code.

We can help determine how much square footage you’re allowed. This calculation is usually based on how many linear feet of street frontage your building has. Some cities use the linear foot formula, others use a formula that relates to the surface area of your building. Using those formulas in conjunction with your zoning will determine the overall size you’re allowed to use for your new sign.

Beyond that, there aren’t any restrictions that would limit how large, or how small, we can make your new sign.

Where Can I Put Blade Signs?

Blade Signs are made for every type of use you could think of. We can install your new blade sign indoors or outdoors.

Outdoor Blade Signs are built to withstand the elements. All of the electrical components that we use to fabricate them are designed with a full IP68 rating. The IP68 rating means that your sign meets or exceeds regulations set forth by the NEC (National Electric Code) and the IBC (International Building Code). All of our electrical components are rated for outdoor use in wet conditions.

Indoor Blade Signs do not have to meet many of the same regulations that outdoor signage is required to. You can find examples of indoor blade signs in places like airports, malls, and other large facilities that need help getting visitors from point A to Point B. These types of blade signs are usually called Wayfinding Signs.

How Much Do Blade Signs Cost?

The need for a blade sign can vary greatly.

A simple blade sign can be very low in cost. Where the demands, the size, the design, or the intent is much greater a blade sign can be a serious, but worthwhile, investment.

Blade Signs aren’t something that can be blindly quoted. We need to see where it’s going, what it’s designed to do, and seeing/hearing about the proposed design.

Because of that, we’d love to have to opportunity to get to speak with you and discuss what your needs are and develop a sign that would work best for you and your budget.
